Private Wedding Dance Lessons: Learn Foundations Through My Online Tutorials First
Take yourself back to April of 2020 (if you dare!) The world was reeling from quarantines, shutdowns, uncertainty and fear due to the Coronavirus. Out of the 30 students I was teaching privately at the time, 95% postponed their weddings to a later date and I found myself, like many of my colleagues in the wedding industry, essentially unemployed.
What’s a girl to do?
FIRST, DREAM. THEN, DO.
So I dusted off a dream of mine that I had been mulling over for several years, but had never really had the time to work on. With the help of my lovely, patient husband, I started creating beginner-friendly wedding dance tutorials for some of my students who were still planning on getting married, but could no longer take private lessons in person.
enter my CUSTOM CHOREOGRAPHY TUTORIAL LIBRARY…
Since April of 2020, I have created many beginner-level online wedding dance tutorials to a whole range of first dance songs from classics and oldies to pop and country. In 2021, I started recommending a hybrid package where couples complete their online tutorial of choice before attending private lessons.
More than 85% of my 2021 students chose to do a hybrid package of online and private lessons…
AND THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN AMAZING.
Couples who had NEVER danced in their lives, came into my studio for their first lesson after completing a tutorial, looking like they had already taken three or more private lessons! (Essentially they had, because each tutorial covers the foundational steps that I teach ALL of my students before putting it together into a first dance routine.)
Because I’ve seen how much more we can accomplish when a couple has a strong dance foundation coming into their first lesson, I’ve decided to include access to my online tutorials in ALL of my wedding dance packages for 2022 and onward.
SO, YOU’RE SAYING I HAVE TO DO ONLINE LESSONS IN ORDER TO WORK WITH YOU?
I believe so strongly in my online tutorials and what beginners can accomplish through them, that it would be silly NOT to have all of my couples start learning this way. Think of it as giving yourself a head start. We’ll be able to go further in our lessons together, learning more advanced moves (if you want that), polishing your dance to perfection, or learning other steps and techniques that you can apply to your wedding reception (so you aren’t just a one-trick pony.)
If you choose not to complete the tutorial, that’s totally up to you. But I would definitely encourage you to do it so that we can make the most out of our time together.
I DON’T SEE MY SONG IN THE LIBRARY. WHAT DO I DO?
For couples whose songs ARE listed in my tutorial library, I highly recommend that you start with that tutorial before coming to private lessons. We can always modify the choreography to take out steps you may not like, add more advanced moves if you want that, and make the dance unique for you.
If your song is not listed above, and not on my list to create, you’ll start with my First Dance 101 online wedding dance tutorial. This tutorial teaches the foundational steps that I teach everyone during their first two to three private lessons regardless of their song choice. If you have trouble applying the steps to your music, no worries! I’ll help you during your first private dance lesson.
WHAT IF WE WANT TO DO SOMETHING NON-TRADITIONAL, LIKE A WEDDING DANCE MASHUP?
I’ve got a program [in the works] for all you crazy kids who want to get funky with a wedding dance mashup. The process will be similar — start with the tutorial, then come to private lessons — though the pricing will be customized based on the number of songs you are including in your dance. Email me to inquire about my DIY Wedding Mashup program.
HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
Easy! Simply fill out my Get Started form with all of your information and I’ll be in touch as soon as possible with next steps, including booking lessons on my calendar and paying your deposit. Once you’re all booked, you’ll be automatically enrolled in the tutorial of your choice so you can get started with learning to dance at your earliest convenience.
